I write, produce and perform as Kat Five and in my band Feral Five, who are known for experimenting with new tech. We’ve created music with sonified algorithms, played Music Tech Fest with a 3D printer, and worked with AI tools on our recent album ‘Truth Is The New Gold which explores truth and trust. I was recently interviewed on BBC News about AI in Music, in the industry as a whole, and to discuss how I used it.

Feral Five signed to the Reckless Yes label for the album, which came out earlier in 2023 on Vinyl, CD, and Digital, and featured on BBC 6 Music, Radio X, and other leading stations around the world.

Electronic music legend Martyn Ware (Heaven 17, Human League) has remixed the album title track and it’s out on 18 October.

He previously invited us to create new music for his Picasso Portraits event at the National Portrait Gallery in London. We’ve also played film director Danny Boyle’s Shuffle Festival, supported Black Grape, and played Cro Cro Land and Nasty Women festivals.

We have also created an interactive live show with live algorithmic visuals in collaboration with artist/technologist Jonathan Hogg, where the audience can share their thoughts on truth to be included in the visuals and the music.

As Kat Five I’ve released self-produced solo tracks, collaborated with artists such as Misled Convoy (Pitch Black), jammed on the IRCAM stage in Paris, remixed emerging classical composer Monefa Walker, and contributed to sound art broadcasts and installations.

I am also part of the international women in music tech community, and a member of the Music Producers Guild, The Ivors Academy, The Brit Awards Voting Academy 2023, and the women and non-binary music producers group 2% Rising.
